AWD sports cars have seen a bit of a boom in recent years. As horsepower has gone up and manual transmissions have dropped out, AWD has become a popular way to put down serious speed without losing contact with the blacktop. After decades as a niche proposition, despite generations of excellent examples at reasonable prices, several 911-caliber AWDs exist for diehards to enjoy.

The best of Audi’s sports car lineup has always compared well with Porsche: the Volkswagen AG siblings both deliver top-flight sports cars with the best of German engineering. There are plenty of reasons to love the RS3 (and a few not to) but it’s the closest Audi has come to a half-price Porsche, outdoing the stock Carrera and nudging the 4S on multiple metrics. The fearsome GT-R actually outperforms the 911 Carrera 4S on most common metrics: more power, more torque, faster 0-60, higher top speed. Even stock, Toyota’s 2024 GT-R is a supercar killer and is a bit less expensive than comparable Porsche models to boot.
