2021 Lexus NX – Compact Luxury SUV
Pros: Lexus cocoons NX passengers in premium materials and comfortable seating. The ride is refined and quiet. To its robust suite of standard driver assists the 2021 adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Standard power folding side mirrors are included this year, as well.
Cons: The NX isn’t particularly quick and exhibits lots of body roll in corners. This one hasn’t updated to an infotainment touchscreen yet, either, relying on a center-console-mounted touchpad. The compact SUV’s cargo area trails rivals in volume.

2023 Lexus RX – Midsize Luxury SUV
Pros: This RX is available with gas or hybrid four-cylinder powertrains. All are more efficient than the outgoing V-6. The RX’s passenger areas are upscale and spacious, and Lexus equips the SUV with several useful cubbies and storage nooks. Cabin build quality is strong.
Cons: Driving dynamics fail to impress. Steering feedback could be better, the base model is lazy off the line, and the engines get buzzy under load. The F Sport isn’t all that athletic. The RX450h+ plug-in hybrid doesn’t arrive until the 2024 model year.

2022–2023 Lincoln Nautilus – Midsize Luxury SUV
Pros: Both powertrains available on the Lincoln Nautilus are strong, and the ute delivers a smooth, quiet ride. Many driver assist safety features are standard. We also dig this Lincoln’s attractive, well-appointed cabin, which features an impressive 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and excellent materials.
Cons: Fuel economy isn’t great for the base turbo-four engine, and the V-6’s eight-speed automatic transmission can sometimes be slow to act. There’s not enough seat bolstering on any of the Nautilus’ seats.
