2020-2022 Cadillac XT6
Pros:Cadillac’s XT6 earns a place among the best used three-row SUVs for its terrific safety scores and great reliability, but it’s also surprisingly fun to drive for its size, exhibiting great ride and handling balance. We also appreciate the user-friendly infotainment system.
Cons: The interior can feel cheap for a luxury vehicle, and neither of the available engines feels especially powerful among the XT6’s luxury peers. The XT6 is also much closer to a Chevrolet Traverse than a Cadillac Escalade, so don’t get your hopes up for feeling like a baller.

2020-2022 Ford Explorer
Pros: We appreciate the Explorer’s punchy turbocharged engines, and the hybrid offers a 5,000-pound towing capacity that’s rare among its hybrid peers. The three-row Ford earns Great reliability ratings for 2020 and 2022, as well.
Cons: The Explorer’s interior quality is decidedly lackluster with lots of ugly plastic. Fuel economy isn’t great on base models, either, and the hybrid isn’t much better. Also, a jumpy throttle that Ford uses to make the Explorer seem sporty just feels unrefined. Avoid the ST and Hybrid Platinum; their value scores fall off compared to other trims.

2020 Honda Pilot
Pros: Honda’s largest SUV, the Pilot, boasts huge interior volume. Its useful third row boosts seating capacity to seven or eight depending on the trim. The Pilot also has loads of standard driver assists, and we enjoy the driving experience. If you can, get one with the nine-speed auto. When new, the 2020 Pilot won a comparison test over the Toyota Highlander.
Cons: We’ve found this generation of Honda’s infotainment can be slow and clunky. Also, although we enjoyed the Pilot more than its Toyota competitor, the Highlander has higher value, safety, and reliability scores.
