6Toyota Origin
Original MSRP: $59,000

The Toyota Origin, a limited edition mid-size car crafted by Toyota, graced the roads of Japan from 2000 to 2001, leaving a mark with its unique and nostalgic charm. Drawing inspiration from the RS series Toyopet Crown, the Origin’s distinct retro-style body was skillfully modeled, while sharing the platform and inline-six engine with the Progrès.
Imbued with a design that harkened back to the original Crown, the Origin is one of the rarest Toyotas ever, and it embraced features seldom seen in modern vehicles. Its rear suicide doors, rearward-slanting C-pillar, and jewel tail lamps were artfully incorporated, evoking a sense of nostalgia and paying homage to its iconic predecessor.

Luxury
Taking inspiration from the first-generation Toyopet Crown, the Origin features a distinctive exterior with rear suicide doors and jewel-like tail lamps. The front fenders and quarter panel trim are block-molded, a niche and now outdated technique that adds a hand crafted element to the car’s story. The exterior paintwork employs traditional Japanese lacquerware, resulting in a deep, lustrous finish. Inside, the Origin offers genuine leather seats and fine grained wood accents. The vertically patterned design and piping of the ergonomically shaped seats hark back to a feeling you can’t access in modern cars. The instrument panel features an analog clock and optitron instrumentation with light-emitting dials and needles, in an age where instrument clusters are now digital, the instruments are a rarity that can be akinned to clockwork.
