The South Korean brand has issued a new recall over fears its popular EV9 electric vehicles (2024-25) are missing seat mounting bolts which may not properly restrain an occupant, increasing the risk of injury.

According to documents from the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 22,883 vehicles are impacted by the recall.

It blamed the error on an assembly plant worker, with owners of vehicles with the issue likely hearing a rattling noise from the seats or a looseness.

As part of the recall, certain 2020-2024 Ford Escape models and 2021-2024 Lincoln Corsair models could see batteries fail, causing a loss of drive power. Documents stated that this could increase the risk of a crash, while battery failure can also increase the risk of a fire.

The recall, which impacts almost 20,500 vehicles, states that a manufacturing defect in one or more of the high-voltage battery cells may result in an internal short circuit and battery failure.

Dealers will perform a battery energy control module software update and replace the high-voltage battery pack, with these repairs taking place for free.

The Tesla probe is looking into the Actually Smart Summon feature TESLA

The NHTSA announced that it had opened an investigation into 2.6 million Tesla models over issues related to the “Actually Smart Summon” feature.

This allows people to remotely move their vehicle to a location of their choice, with the brand releasing the feature in Europe recently, although it does come with restrictions.

According to Reuters, the NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation reported one complaint alleging a crash had taken place as a result of the feature.

Drivers are being warned of new vehicle recalls amid fears issues could lead to motorists being more at risk of crashing or a fire occurring.

Data from the United States found that Tesla recalled more vehicles than any other brand with over 5.1 million cars, followed closely by Stellantis with 4.8 million cars.

GB News has rounded up the most important car recalls of the past few weeks that drivers need to know about.

The NHTSA announced in December that it had closed a preliminary probe into almost 8,000 electric SUV models from electric vehicle startup Fisker.

The Californian-based manufacturer has launched a software update and issued a recall of 7,745 vehicles over fears the vehicle could roll away and cause a crash or injury.

A software update introduced an “Auto Vehicle Hold” feature. This prevents the vehicle from rolling under gravity, engages the park gear and the electronic parking brake.
